Over the next few months – after the Christmas and New Year break – the Southern Hemisphere summer really gets into its swing with workshops.
Over the next few months there are lots of events and activities in Aotearoa New Zealand. Here are a few that are happening up and down the West Coast.
Down in Hokitika the Heritage Hub is hosting some events and more details will follow soon. Please email for contact details if you are interested in going to some of these.
Jan 20th Fabric flower craft day. Free, open to the public. Suitable for all ages.
Feb 23rd to 25th Tapestry weaving. Cost $240.
Limited spaces, adults only.
March 8th and 9th Sewing machine workshops. Free.
Limited spaces, adults only.
March 23rd Wool day. Free, open to the public.
Suitable for all ages.
There are also going to be ongoing things for young people such as sewing group on a Tuesday evening from the end of January and a youth choir starting up in February. Plus the new choir for anyone aged 18 and up that started up a few weeks ago is going to begin to meet again from the 11th January at 6:30pm in the Left Bank Gallery. There will be more monthly talks in the Conversation and Cloth series and a pop-up exhibition is planned to celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8th.
If you are interested in waiata come along on Tuesday evenings to the whare at Grey High School to sing with a group. The group has stopped for the Christmas break and will recommence in the New Year. Details will follow on the blog.
There is plenty more to do; these are only a few of the things that are happening over the summer. What fun!
