This week I am in Pōneke Wellington where Festival for the Future, an event to bring young people together, is taking place.
While the group I am with is at the Festival I am researching in the National Library for a project to do with oral histories on the Coast. The Library is home to the Declaration of Independence, the Treaty of Waitangi documents and the petition for Women’s Suffrage. (https://natlib.govt.nz/he-tohu), an important collection in the making of modern Aotearoa.
The oral histories project is to gather reminiscences and memories of Māwhera Greymouth and the district. At the moment we are completing what is called a “scoping study”, an overview of the resources that already exist. Once this part of the project is completed we will fill-in the gaps.
We are looking for recordings or resources. If anyone out there in the blogverse has ideas as to where to find these please get in touch.
