Italy in New Zealand

Italian fashion is going to hit the Greymouth screen.

Next month the Regent Theatre in Māwhera Greymouth is hosting the Cinema Italiano Festival/ Italian Film Festival. This event is in its ninth year and the lineup, according to its artistic director, Paolo Rotondo, is one of the strongest yet.

One of the films to be shown out of the twenty-four that are in the whole programme – Māwhera is going to be showing a selection of six – is “The Genius of Gianni Versace Alive“. This hour-and-a-half film has been directed by Salvatore Zannino, previously a Versace model, and promises to show insights and details of Versace’s life and work as told by his friends and colleagues.

The dates of the film festival showings are the 25th November to the 1st December. So dust off the Versace bling and come along to savour gelato and be wowed by Gianni Versace, one of the fashion’s most iconic designers.
