Last weekend was the first Beginner Weaving class at the studio in Māwhera Greymouth.

This three hour session is going to be run three times a year – the next date is 11th April – and is an introduction to weaving using pre-warped looms and a simple set of instructions. There are only five places on each class so booking is essential. This last session was relaxed and informal, and everyone produced a piece of woven fabric to take home, like the one on the left.

The first in the more advanced session is a look at the fascinating world of twills, those diagonal lines in cloth. This class will be on the 14th March and will be a full day, starting at ten and ending at 3. Again, booking is essential because places are limited.

All classes include materials, tutor time and refreshments, as well as support afterwards. The Beginner Weave class is $30 and the more advanced session is $50. To find out more or to pre-book one or both of the sessions send an email.
