In the 1980s, knitwear designer Roz Mexted produced high fashion knitting patterns that could be made at home.
Designer Knits, Roz Mexted’s publication from 1989 has just been added to the studio library. This book features 22 original handknit designs and has instructions on reading a pattern, making a tension check, adjusting patterns for size, choosing yarns and colours, the technique of intarsia and finishing off the garments. There is also a section at the end of the book about “You, the designer”, encouraging people to make their own designs.
The books in the library may be read in the studio. There is no need to make an appointment as the studio is open 11 to 3 weekdays but if there is something specific you would like to see please send an email. Over the next few months the books will continue to be catalogued and the list will be made available online.
