Over the last few weeks some new publications have come into the library.

The Web was a quarterly journal that was produced by the New Zealand Spinning, Weaving and Wool-crafts Society from the 1970s through to the 1980s. The library already has a set of The Web but an addition has just come in that expands the collection. Now the set takes the archive back to March 1976, Volume 7, number one. There are some duplicates available for anyone who is collecting back issues – June ’82, June ’83, August ’83, March ’84, March ’86 and June ’86. Please enquire if you would like to see these.

Exploring Colour & Design for Handweavers (1978) is another addition. Published by Molly Duncan, hand weaver, and George Bull, photographer, this book takes an in-depth look at colour from dyeing to composition, from inspiration to design. The results are clear, accurate and accessible and make for excellent reading and understanding.

The library is a reference collection. The publications are related to design, art, artists and makers, techniques, tools and industry history, as well as costume, fashion and textiles from around the world. The collection is open to the public and can be used between 11am and 3pm weekdays or by appointment.
