Established in 2001 by Andrew Ross, GlobalYell started out as an education and training organisation for vocal music, based in the Shetland Isles of Scotland. In 2005 textile aims were added to the organisation’s portfolio with the gift of weave equipment from the former Ann Sutton Foundation.
GlobalYell has run music and textile tourism activities, workshops, education programmes and residencies, bringing people together to engage with and create through art and craft.
In 2023 the organisation closed its doors in the UK and embarked on a new life in New Zealand’s West Coast.
