A request

Dear gentle readers,

Every so often I ask you what you would like to see more of on the blog, and what you don’t like. As our seasons change and we slip into winter in the Southern Hemisphere, with indoor pursuits taking over our leisure time, it seems an opportune moment to ask that question.

If you have the time and inclination can you drop me an email to share what you enjoy about the newsletter and what you would like to see more of. You can also share what you don’t like or what you think is not necessary. Ideas about the structure of the newsletter or its contents are very welcome too, as well as thoughts about the worldwide focus on art, craft and music. In fact, any feedback is appreciated because it helps to refine and keep the blog relevant.

The blog is now nearly twenty years old and over that time I have asked readers to help guide it. Your contribution will help. Thank you for supporting, reading and offering your advice and news.

Dear Andy, Keep it going. Fantastic. I do enjoy the aspects of wider NZ life and geography. Cranberry farming, for instance. You skim over some good bits that I’d like to know more about. Erik with his amazing underwater textile sculptures – how I’d love one for my bathroom. He clearly uses hand dies – or maybe they are commercial, but it would be good to know. Where does he exhibit and who buys them, where do they end up?
Also you show and tell sessions at the new gallery/space: Who comes? Who shows? Are they blow-ins like you, or are they local settled residents. Have the little houses you showed us in the charming early blog pics been remodelled? Or can you trace how they were originally. Old folks’ tales would be good. But your walks and drives are amazing, too. Bring it all on, Love Mary

      Hello Mary,
Many thanks for sending thoughts about the blog. I really do appreciate any feedback.

More research on each artist would be good, wouldn’t it? I will try to find out more and post info to the blog. Sometimes it is quite hard to find information but that is no reason to give up, is it?

I am going to write about the show and tell sessions this week. They have stopped for a couple of months while I gather new material so now is a good time to think about them and let you all know how they are going.

People have asked about New Zealand in general so much more of that coming in future. The old houses are so lovely. And practical. They flex in earthquakes because they are built of wood and should not be as dangerous in the same way as concrete and brick if they do fall down.
