This week’s blog

Dear readers,

This week the enormous crates and boxes arrived from the UK in Greymouth. The task ahead is mammoth – how to pack the Shetland studio into a much smaller space in New Zealand – but already most of the boxes are unwrapped and the contents stored.

It feels very good to have everything together again. There is a lot that has been collected over the past twenty years in the islands and now it is all in one place once more.

I am sorry that there is no blog this week. There simply is not time to do entries as you might guess from the images and video of the studio on Tuesday. Normal service will be resumed as soon as possible.

Not a problem!! It’s exciting to see that everything has made it to NZ. Happy arranging!

Andy, so excited for you. A dream come true.
Take it slow and easy and touch everything you have received and, when you can, place it in its new home. Mary Ellen McMurtrie

Thank you Mary Ellen. It is a daunting task but we are getting things in place and it is beginning to look like a working studio now.

Great news. A lot of work ahead but I am sure you will get it up and running shortly. Wish I could see it.

You must be so pleased that everything has arrived and is slowly finding it’s new home with you in Greymouth. It may take a while to sort but that is the exciting part of it. I have just had a move from Ballan in Victoria to Lobethal in South Australia, and can really feel what you are going through, but the best part is when you ‘find’ little treasures you had forgotten about because they had been packed away for so long in all the ‘hectic’ of moving. I am still unpacking 3 months after my move!!

For your interest later – the small town of Lobethal in the Adelaide Hills, that I have just moved to has an amazing Art and Heritage Gallery just around the corner from me. I have been so impressed by it that I am now volunteering each week in the gallery and workshop areas and meeting some great local artists and being able to enjoy all the wonderful art and craft created and exhibited. The web site for this fabulous place is fabrik.org.au and is well worth a visit when you have time. It is housed in what used to be the Onkarparinga Woolen Mill and is surrounded in the history and heritage of the mills previous life. A great place to visit if you ever get the chance.

All the very best and I will be visiting later in the year hopefully to see your achievements.
    Sue O’Dwyer.

Thank you Sue. And thanks too for the information about the Gallery. I shall have a look at it.
