This winter the studio will be busy with classes and workshops.
On Sunday 24th May we are going to be looking at twills, those fascinating structures that we are familiar with from the diagonal lines in denim. Twills are used in houndstooth, in diamonds, in triangles and many other patterns.
The 13th June is a Saturday and we will be looking at colour. Use art materials and inspiration sources to choose colours for that special project. 10am to 3pm.
In July, Saturday the 18th sees a workshop on designing a warp. This is for anyone who is interested in the making of a warp and starts from the basics. By the end of the session you will have learnt how to work out what yarns you will need for a project and how to make the warp itself. 10am to 3pm
The next beginner class is on Sunday 18th August. This is a short session of playing with a pre-warped loom to learn the mechanics of weaving. 10am to 1pm
The last two Winter workshops are full weekends, 10am to 3pm Saturday and Sunday.
Wind a Warp. Dress a Loom is for beginner weavers who want to learn how to manage a war, from designing it to getting it onto a loom. 5th and 6th September.
Weave a Scarf is on 24th and 25th October. This workshop is a time for you to sample some colours and patterns on a pre-warped loom before weaving a scarf for yourself.
Each of these workshops is a step in the process of becoming a weaver. Beginners can go from a starting workshop all the way through to making a scarf by signing up to consecutive sessions.
